The new iOS8 will enable a new type of app discovery: the lock screen will display an icon for the app for the venue (e.g., store) the user is at or near. This is an amazing way for consumers to become aware about an app when they need it (i.e., an app that provides an "in-store" mode with Store Maps & Wayfinding, etc)

However, knowing that Apple still has limitations in its mapping accuracy (for example, Apple Maps does not have all of the Points-of-Interests (POIs) for retail stores and or if it has them, they are not-accurate) how is the App Icon for Starbucks, for instance, to display on the lock screen? The lack of accurate POI mapping databases will hurt Apple in iOS8, just like it hurt when Apple launched Apple Maps prematurely.
