Spime Inc, becomes Microsoft Partner, Developing Location-Based Services and Tracking Products on Windows Embedded
CE - Next Generation of Location Intelligence
Fremont, CA, May 1, 2007 – Spime Inc., a leading provider of
location intelligence solutions has become a WEPP partner and its NorthStar™ and Discovery™ products run on Windows
Mobile.
Location is an invaluable filter for enhancing and enabling richer user experiences, and it is estimated
that 315 million wireless users will subscribe to location-based services by 2011. NorthStar™, a navigation application
for mobile phones and other portable devices, incorporates map and local search content from leading providers, including
NavTeq and TeleAtlas, and performs automatic route finding and voice navigation, in the manner of a powerful personal navigation
device product.
“The Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Program gave us the opportunity to incorporate Windows
Embedded in our products and to reach new customers,” said Kris Kolodziej, CTO. Microsoft recently predicted that 20
million Windows Mobile 6-based devices will ship in 2008, and market projections show that Windows Mobile will capture 30
percent of the market by 2010. NorthStar is well positioned to tap into this market.
In addition to navigation
and point-of-interest (POI) search, NorthStar features geo-tagging for multimedia content sharing, a tracking module for buddy-finder
applications, and location widgets that integrate with local address books, in one single, powerful application.
Discovery™ is an integrated platform that enables identification, tracking and asset management. It is designed to
support GPS, WiFi, RFID, cellular and other futuristic identification and positioning technologies. Discovery is a scalable
platform designed as a community server to support, for example, millions of social networking users.
